Port Douglas Wastewater Treatment Plant – Sludge Handling System Upgrade
Council: Douglas Shire Council
Fund: Regional Capital Fund
Category: Water/Sewerage/Waste Infrastructure
An upgraded belt filter press (BFP) system will remove the risk of serious failure of aged and corroded equipment at the Port Douglas Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The project will install a new BFP system including new conveyors, access walkway and platform, air compressor, new polymer make-up and dosing systems, new filtrate return pumps and installation of a new blower for the aerobic digester. Modifications will also be made to the BFP shed to create a 'dry' area for installation of the new switchboard which will be integrated with the main site SCADA (Supervisory control and data acquisition) system.
