Airport security and safety will be improved with construction of a border fence around the entire Horn Island Airport.
Works will include constructing the border fence around the airport site, including buildings and the runway, to prevent wildlife coming on to the runway and help the airport meet its safety requirements.
Horn Island Airport is a significant catalyst for economic development for the whole Torres Region as the major point of entry from mainland areas of Australia as well as from Papua New Guinea.
