Yarrabah CCTV Security Project
- Council: Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council
- Fund: Remote and Indigenous Communities Fund
- Category: Social Infrastructure
- Round: 3
Community safety will be improved with the installation of vandal-proof cameras around Yarrabah, deterring criminal and anti-social behaviour. This project will install CCTV security cameras throughout the community at key locations identified by council and the Queensland Police Service as crime ‘hotspots’.
Located in three main suburbs – the town area, Mourigan, and Djenghi – vandal-proof cameras will be installed on existing infrastructure where possible, or on CCTV camera-specific poles where required.
While the main aim is to act as a deterrent, camera footage will also provide evidence to police prosecutions if required.
