The Gregory Water Treatment Plant will get a solar power system to replace the existing diesel generators, improving the plant’s efficiency and reducing its environmental footprint.
The project includes:
a 50kW solar array
a 76kW energy storage system
a 6kW battery charger
installation of structural supports for the solar array
replacement of diesel generator and water tanks (2 x 225kL).
Using a renewable energy source will reduce CO2 emissions and noise pollution. This project is expected to save council $100,000 per year in operating costs, as well as alleviating the long-term maintenance and operational costs of providing treated water to residents.
