Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) will gain a new multi-storey club facility after the state entered into an agreement with private developers Silverstone Developments Pty Ltd.
Under the innovative agreement, the existing clubhouse, more than 50 years old, will be redeveloped into a new standalone building on part of its current site at 458 Wickham Street, Fortitude Valley
The Queensland Government, in consultation with PCYC Queensland, held a competitive bid process that selected Silverstone Developments. Construction is expected to start in late 2019 with the building to feature new boxing training, gym and basketball facilities.
The development will create jobs during construction and will be fully funded by Silverstone Developments.
PCYC plays an important community role in fostering the development of local young people through a range of services and programs, including sport, youth leadership and crime prevention.
