Local housing action plans
Addressing local housing issues
Six local housing action plans have been developed by the Western Queensland Alliance of Councils (WQAC) to address a range of immediate, emerging and longer-term housing challenges in the shire councils of Murweh, Paroo, Flinders, Boulia, Carpentaria and the Blackall-Tambo Regional Council.
The Queensland Government provided funding to WQAC to prepare 22 local housing action plans, of which 6 have been developed so far.
The action plans examine a range of factors impacting housing in each local government area and the current and future housing needs in each community.
They also identify priority actions to respond to housing challenges in each local government area. The work of the WQAC has been key in examining these important areas and giving local governments a clearer path forward.
Final drafts are subject to council approval.
