Disrupting the packaging industry

Disruptive Packaging is revolutionising the industry with its fully recyclable Uniqcor packaging. Now, thanks to a $275,000 resource recovery grant, the team is creating Uniqcor collection points all around Queensland. The collection points will start in South East Queensland, expanding as demand increases.

Disruptive Packaging Compliance and Produce Director Nathan Hall said the grant would help the Acacia Ridge-based small business to grow.

“We intend to expand our reach by simplifying how the product is recovered and recycled,” Mr Hall said.

The innovative compound is already changing the industry. Developed over the last four years, this closed-loop packaging material is 100% recyclable.

The water-proof packaging is replacing single-use wax cardboard, corflute and polystyrene to package fresh produce and seafood. It’s made from up to 70% natural earth materials and can be used multiple times.

Disruptive Packaging recently won the 2021 WorldStar Packaging Awards. The company was recognised for the smart design of an environmentally friendly cold chain packaging solution.

The team is committed to helping Queensland move toward a circular economy. It’s all about diverting waste from landfill and reducing stockpiling, while creating jobs in the process.

This concept aligns with our own Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy, promoting more sustainable waste management practices. The goal is to reduce the amount of waste produced by business, industry and households.
