Aviation Australia has been awarded funding under the Queensland Government’s Sovereign Industry Development Fund to boost Defence aviation maintenance skills and expand capabilities at the Townsville Aviation Centre of Excellence (TACE).

The investment will establish the centre as a leading training facility for Defence aviation maintenance engineers, equipped with new high-technology simulation equipment, including an Aircraft Maintenance Trainer and a Virtual Maintenance Trainer classroom.

The project will reinforce Townsville's position as a nationally significant Defence aviation hub, build the skilled workforce needed to support Army and Air Force aviation operations across North Queensland, and secure more local jobs in the region.
