The Queensland Government is delivering on its commitment to assess the public transport connectivity options for the southern Gold Coast by conducting a review with community input, so that all routes and modes can be considered.
The southern Gold Coast is one of Queensland’s most iconic destinations, loved by residents and visitors for its laid-back, outdoor lifestyle and incredible natural beauty. It is important transport systems are well-designed and protect the lifestyle that underpins the region’s prosperity.
Future transport options for the southern Gold Coast
As a fast-growing community, it is critical that we plan for future public transport options that keep the southern Gold Coast a great place to live and supports the travel needs of residents and surrounding communities—like getting to work, school, the beach or travelling to the airport.
To ensure that future transport options align with the values of local communities and provide the greatest long-term solutions for the area, the Queensland Government is conducting a review of the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 4 project. This includes ensuring the protection of the natural environment and key local areas such as Burleigh Heads Bowls Club, Memorial Park, Tallebudgera Creek and Burleigh Head National Park.
The review focuses on improving connectivity and public transport options for the southern part of the Gold Coast, assessing solutions that are affordable and serve the needs of the local community. This review is required to include both technical analysis and public engagement to ensure that community views on proposed routes and modes inform the final review report.
As part of this, all residents are encouraged to have their say on preferred transport solutions.
